A 1995 graduate from the University of Florida, but a diehard Georgia Bulldog. (I did spend three years at UGA.) I am a Bulldog season ticket holder and I live in Gainesville, FL. Every Fall I trek up to Athens in my RV for most of the games. My Pop and my buddies usually join me. Sometimes my wife and kids keep me company as well. It is always a good time.
I ran across the Lenoir-Rhyne College Football Tailgating Etiquette today. I am a realist. I understand the need for everyone to follow a set of social norms so that we all get along. However, the “Etiquette” at Lenoir-Rhyne seriously takes the fun out of tailgating. Let’s go through these shall we?
I ran across a great article by Tailgating Ideas which runs down the 14 Tailgaters Who Annoy The Crap Out of You. It is a funny read. He really has nailed down many of the people that just get under the normal person’s skin. However, I have to admit there are certain characteristics in some of those profiles that fit me as well. I imagine most of my friends would identify me as the Gadget Geek.
The Gadget Geek - This guy could also be called the “One Upper”. You have a hand crank blender, this guy has a blender hooked up to a old Harley-Davidson engine. You have a 40,000 BTU grill, this guy has 100,000 BTUs at his disposal, and that’s just on the left side! He’s all about trying to impress everyone else with all his “toys” and loves the ones that make the most noise. That way everyone in the parking lot will turn to look when he fires up his generator powering his rented Musco Lights.
The RV shower is a sacred place for me. I don’t know why. I just feel a certain kinship with it. There are some standard rules of etiquette when you use the shower in an RV. Some of these I learned the hard way and others came naturally.
